I hate when people say things like you’re too young to settle down. You don’t need to be in a relationship. Just have fun. Just do you.
My thoughts on those phrases & all phrases similar to those are as following:“Doing you” shouldn’t be impossible just because you are in a relationship. Like I said in an earlier post, A boyfriend or girlfriend isn’t someone who is supposed to hold you back from doing the things you want to do in life. That person is there to support you, & to push you forward, & cheer for you as you do the things that make you happy. After all, that person is a choice. You CHOSE for that person to be in your life.
A relationship with another person should be something of enjoyment. If being in a relationship prevents you from doing the things you want to do, then maybe you’re right. You definitely are “too young” & aren’t ready for a relationship. You need time to mature. You may not realize this now, but I’m sure you will later.
This goes out to everyone who believes that the phrase “do you” has only one meaning. My perspective is that you don’t have to be alone to be yourself & make your own choices. A boyfriend/girlfriend/husband/wife/whatever should be something extra in your life. They shouldn’t take away from the things you love but, instead, make those things even better. (:
